Administrative confiscation of passports

It is now proposed by this NuLabour Government that their officials be given the right to confiscate passports without needing to bother with all that tiresome rigmarole of going to court to get an Order from a Judge. Ignore the claim that this is only for absent fathers who refuse to maintain their children; for the power will be used far more widely once enacted.

Now who does that remind you of?

How much worse can it get?

God must be really cross with us British!

The only chance now is prayer!

Confiscation of Passports

The British government proposes that administrative officials be empowered to confiscate passports. Ignore the claim that this is only for absent fathers who won't pay for the support of their children; once the power is enacted it will be widely abused by this government, let alone what the next might do!

Does Yokel not recall learning about Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and all the other "heros" of the left doing just that to enforce unwilling obedience on their sullen masses?

It is too late for anything else but prayer!

Here's Hoping that Christmas Might be Better for Them

Zimbabwe court sends activists to hospital

Zimbabwe's Supreme Court has ruled that leading human rights activist Jestina Mukoko should be admitted to hospital under police guard. The exact details of Ms Mukoko's condition were not made known, but some say she may have been tortured while in custody.

She appeared in a Harare court on Wednesday after being held for three weeks at an undisclosed location. Dozens of people who oppose the regime of President Robert Mugabe have been arrested in recent weeks. Eleven of them are still reported missing.

Another eight activists who appeared in court along with Jestina Mukoko have also been admitted to hospital.

Update/Comment: Praise God for the courage of those judges. Let us pray that they are not the next to be arrested under some pretext.

Update 2:

Zimbabwe authorities ignore activist ruling

The authorities in Zimbabwe appear not to have heeded a high court ruling on the fate of a group of activists, including the prominent human rights campaigner Jestina Mukoko.

The group spent three weeks in custody on suspicion of plotting a coup but on Wednesday the court in Harare ruled that the activists should be admitted to hospital, a possible indication that they were tortured during their detention.

A lawyer says the police have now taken Ms Mukoko to an undisclosed location. The fate of the other eight activists is also unclear.

Yokel fears that they will be found dead, and that other judges will determine that they "died of natural causes".

Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)

What is ACPO? “ACPO is a private company and the Office of the Information Commissioner has confirmed that the Freedom of Information Act does not apply to the Association, since Schedule 1 of the Act does not include a definition which covers ACPO.” from http://www.acpo.police.uk/about_pages/free.html (Yokel's emphasis)

But what is it not? “The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) is not a staff association (the separately constituted Chief Police Officers’ Association fulfils that function). ACPO’s work is on behalf of the Service, rather than its own members.” from http://www.acpo.police.uk/about.html

What does it do? “The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)is an independent, professionally led strategic body. In the public interest and, in equal and active partnership with Government and the Association of Police Authorities, ACPO leads and coordinates the direction and development of the police service in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.” from http://www.acpo.police.uk/ (Yokel's emphasis)

How the hell can a private company be an equal partner with the government of a country?

Was it not the case that the Home Office, under the Home Secretary who was nominally accountable to Parliament, was responsible for the leading, direction, and development of the police service? Is this an outsourcing deal? A management buy-out?

Indeed, who the hell are ACPO? Yokel thinks in ACPO we see our next government. People will heave a sigh of relief that the politicians are out of the way, but not for long. All the expenditure that has been denied our forces fighting in Iraq and Afghastlystan has instead been spent on building up the militia of the police. When the protests kick off, there won’t be enough time for 3 month long inquests as the police start using hollow tip bullets routinely. The Civil Contingencies Act and the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act have already received Royal Assent.

This isn't a problem, its part of the solution; The Final Solution

Guess which model of financial probity?

Guido has discovered an interesting little snippet in the Banking Bill, which appears to imply that the government wishes to hide the details of the amount of money in circulation. Why would the want to do that? Unless of course they don't want to get found out for the rate at which they are printing money!

So the model would appear to be Argentina, or Zimbabwe! In either case there was/is a lot else nasty going on, not just the trashing of the currency and economy. People disappear(ed), police know that they serve only their political masters, to name but two.

Those with even more tinfoil in their hats are beginning to argue that this is all part of a masterplan, by our Master Planner, to make joining the Euro seem like a good idea.

This isn't a problem, its part of the solution! THE FINAL SOLUTION.

Bigamy

Bigamy is illegal for white persons of anglo-saxon descent. Of course that may not hold for all the ethnic groups in the UK.

Never believe it until officially denied ...

But Europe minister Caroline Flint said that was "nonsense" and there were "no plans for Britain to join the euro".

So Barroso was right then? I wonder when our Dear Leader, the Great Helmsman, has chalked it in for? And no, it won't be put to the people, because we wouldn't have it. So it will be done by stealth. So, what's new?
