Bercow for Speaker? - No thanks!

Yokel supposes that he really should be glad for Mr John Bercow MP.

After all, it was Mr John Bercow MP that drove Yokel to blogging in the first place.

Career politician, greasy pole artiste, GoAT, potential (just) changer of sides, just the sort of person that NuLabour will want as the next Mr Speaker in order to continue the good work done so ably by Mr Speaker Martin (aka Gorbals Mick). It seems that NuLabour are running a scorched earth policy at present. Saddling the Commons with Mr Speaker Bercow is just another initiative in that same programme.

If Bercow gets the job of Mr Speaker, then another tradition must be broken. He must not be allowed an unopposed return to the House at the next election. Lets work to getting the constituency opponents to unite around an "anyone but Bercow" independent.
